Ministry of Health and Prevention Wins the IHF Gold Award for Excellence in Leadership and Management in Healthcare

The Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, revealed that it has won the Gold Award at the World Hospital Congress of the International Hospital Federation (IHF) which was held in Oman.

MoHAP came out victorious as the Gold Award winner of the IHF/EOH Excellence Award for Leadership and Management in Healthcare for its AI-based innovative project ‘PaCE’ (Performance and Clinical Excellence).

This comes as part of MoHAP’s vigorous efforts to provide holistic and innovative healthcare services and reinforce the UAE’s leading position in the global competitiveness of healthcare efficiency.

‘PaCE’ was chosen as the best project out of 121 projects from 92 organizations in 34 countries.

Expressing his pride in MoHAP’s win of this prestigious award, H.E. Dr. Youssif Al Serkal, Assistant Undersecretary for the Ministry’s Hospitals Sector, hailed the outstanding performance of the workgroups who joined hands to secure this deserved global achievement.

“This award is one of a series of global awards MoHAP has received in international forums to reinforce its leading and innovative model in healthcare systems and pursuant to the wise government directives in terms of incorporating the AI by 100 in medical services in accordance with the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence and the UAE Centennial 2071,” added Al Serkal.

Adopting Innovation-Based Future Agenda

After receiving the Gold Award in the presence of a number of leadership, decision-makers, entrepreneurs, and the concerned from all over the world, Al Serkal pointed out that MoHAP has clinched the award after a tough competition with long-established medical institutions around the world as per the IHF’s standards which are based on the innovation, excellence, and internationally-recognized best practices.

Concluding his remarks, Al Serkal stressed that this award is clear-cut evidence of MoHAP’s merit and competitiveness, and it also underpins the UAE’s unique position in the healthcare field through the adoption of the innovation-based future agenda and sustainability in strategies and operational plans.

Digital Healthcare According to a Proactive Approach

“PaCE (Performance and Clinical Excellence) is an innovative project which is based on the digital healthcare by evaluating the performance of MoHAP’s hospitals in accordance with the artificial intelligence, massive data analysis, predictive modeling, and application of computation,” said Dr. Kalthoum Al Baloushi, Director of MoHAP’s Hospitals Administration.

Al Baloushi added: “This is achieved in accordance a proactive approach to improving the operational efficiency of all health facilities such as; predicting patient flows, crises, restructuring of human and financial resources, medical and nursing specialties as needed, reducing the length of stay and hospital infection rates, and enhancing patient satisfaction.”

Operational-Indicators-Related Predictive Statistics

Praising the efforts of administrative and technical cadres who contributed to the success of PaCE project as per international standards, Al Baloushi explained that the project relies on evaluating the clinical performance of MoHAP’s hospitals to improve measurements of resources management and enhance rates of quality and safety, pointing out that the main objective of this project is to combine sophisticated technology and massive data to identify the status quo and provide the required management with immediate effect on both patient and healthcare providers.

“PaCE Centre contains smart analytical dashboards that include live and predictive statistics related to the hospital’s operational indicators such as the number of patients discharged and their movements between hospitals, in addition to focusing on the flow of patients to accident and emergency centers and bed management and time management to reduce waiting rates. This would help improve the management of resources and ensure the level of quality and safety,” she added.
