General Civil Aviation Authority launches Passenger health and safety   campaign to maintain public health and safety during travel

General Civil aviation authority launches the first of its kind health and safety campaign. §  The campaign offers medical advice for all travelers of all ages, people with determination, and the elderly. The "health and safety campaign" initiative is to consolidate the relationship with the public and provide tips to preserve the health of the citizens and residents of the UAE and to protect their health and allow them to enjoy their travels and vacations

The General Civil Aviation Authority has launched an initiative, the first of its kind on raising awareness of the importance of aviation medicine, which targets all categories of travelers, executives, tourists and people with determination and seniors.

The “health and safety campaign” Initiative is to consolidate the relationship with the public and provide tips to preserve the health of the citizens and residents of the United Arab Emirates and to protect their health in order to enjoy their travels and summer vacation through a brochure via the website and activities and events open to the public. The campaign focuses on three main topics “health situation before travelling, health situation on board a flight, and maintaining the health status at a destination”.

The GCAA focuses on aviation medicine being the federal authority that manages and regulates the UAE airspace and the aviation sector in order to serve the public in a dynamic and thriving aviation environment.

From his part His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority unveiled this initiative, saying, “In the GCAA we strive to provide support and encouragement to the public so they can maintain their health and safety during travel and summer holidays. In addition, we aim for this campaign to be part of the community services we provide, as it is a shared responsibility between the Government and public and private institutions. The initiative aims to achieve some cultural awareness targets as part of our social commitment towards the public by maintaining the health and safety of travelers “.

Eng. Ismail al Blooshi, Assistant General Manager of the aviation safety sector added, “we are proud of the UAE and GCAA caliber of doctors and specialists in the world of aviation medicine who helped transform the idea of this campaign into reality and provide constructive advice to the audience of all ages And different nationalities in English and Arabic. In addition, it is necessary that the General Civil Aviation Authority is leading the works to raise awareness about travel and safety of travelers where many travelers are unaware of the proper preparations for their travels.”

The goal of the GCAA is to have the best infrastructure of Aviation globally, and in order to do this the GCAA addresses the awareness in aviation component and thus provide educational tips, brochures, and organized campaigns and events to inspire the audience to be aware of their health before traveling, during the plane and after arrival to the destination.

The GCAA seeks to develop and provide the highest standards of safety and security of civil aviation in the UAE, the GCAA has been able to implement the initiative thanks to doctors specializing in aviation medicine. With the help of pioneers in the field such as the first Emirati doctor specialized in Aviation Medicine Dr. Nabila Al-Awadhi and the assistance of medicine experts like Dr. Zaina Al Marzouqi, Dr. Asmahan Sabt and Dr. Amira Al-Ansari this campaign has been turned from an idea to a reality.

It is worthy of mention that the UAE has achieved a tremendous and unprecedented achievement by receiving the highest rank in the world in line with the international air safety standards after intense audit by the global programme for air safety oversight audit of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
