in5 produces thousands of 3D printed face shields for Dubai Health Authority

Dubai-UAE

Sallam Sallam

in5 has released an inspirational video revealing the 3D printed face shields its engineering team along with some of its startups produced, assembled and distributed for Dubai Health Authority to protect the UAE’s frontline medical workers.

The behind-the-scenes video shows in5 engineers working alongside entrepreneurs, using innovative manufacturing methods utilising in5’s state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to produce 3D printed personal protective equipment inscribed with the hashtag #UAEHeroes. It follows them to Rashid Hospital where doctors and nurses unbox the personal protective equipment. Thousands of units will eventually be made for healthcare authorities as part of ongoing efforts to combat COVID-19.

The emotive video demonstrates how the creative co-working spaces, prototyping laboratories, 3D printers, recording studios and state-of-the-art infrastructure across in5’s three innovation centres have enabled startups to take their ideas from concept to prototype to reality.

Launched by TECOM Group in 2013 to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in Dubai and beyond, in5 facilitates the process of establishing and growing a startup through its incubation programme that offers simplified business setup, specialised facilities, mentorship, workshops, networking events, and access to investors. It also has a membership programme, open to students, freelancers, professionals and entrepreneurs, that provides access to in5 innovation centres and benefits.
