Sharjah Events, www.sharjahevents.ae, an initiative of Sharjah Government Media Bureau has joined hands with Sharjah Art Foundation to host two creative workshops on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Al Majaz Amphitheatre as part of its #SeeSharjah campaign to promote the spectacularly busy calendar of events and activities throughout the Emirate.

The two workshops titled ‘Painting to Music’ and ‘Design and Make Your Own Post Stamps and Post Cards’ are aimed at encouraging the public interaction with the #SeeSharjah campaign and shining the light on the various family festivals, events and activities held throughout the Emirate all through the year, attracting visitors from across the region and around the world. The workshops, held in partnership with Sharjah Art Foundation, also aim to unleash and promote the creative potential of the participants.

Al Majaz Amphitheatre will strictly adhere to the Covid-19 safety guidelines prescribed by the UAE and is equipped with all necessary facilities for people with disabilities besides refreshments for those attending the workshops.

HE Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, said: “Through Sharjah Events, we are keen to strengthen ties between institutions and the public, as the website offers a real window into the events and activities that take place in the Emirate of Sharjah”.

He added: “We are keen to improve the experience of visitors and residents of Sharjah and to strengthen their relationship with the Emirate’s landmarks and activities. We hope to turn Al Majaz Amphitheatre into an incubator for various cultural events and artistic activities.”

Sheikha Noura Al Mualla, Director of Education and Research at the Sharjah Art Foundation, said: “These workshops will complement the role of Sharjah Art Foundation that it has played for many years. Through these workshops, we are seeking to establish a creative path for the public to explore various fields of art, such as painting, music, cinema, photography, and others.”

Workshops

In the first workshop, Painting to Music, being held from 5pm to 6pm, participants will paint while they listen to the beats and harmonies of a variety of music. Inspired by their emotional responses to the music, participants will collaboratively paint a number of artworks.

During the second workshop, Design and Make your own Post Stamps and Post Cards, to be held from 6pm to 7pm, participants will learn how to design postcards. They will use different techniques to draw and write a message on the postcard that reflects their personality. They will be provided with ready-made stamp templates on which they will use coloured pencils to add drawings and writing.

On the sidelines of the workshops, a special contest ‘Lucky Chair’ is being held offering a member of the audience the opportunity to win a special prize. The contest is aimed at encouraging the audience to buy tickets for a special concert that is being held the same day featuring popular artists Ali Jassim, Mustafa Abdullah and Mahmoud Al Turki whose songs have regaled the Emiratis and Arabs for years.

During the month of February, the SGMB has lined up more workshops in cooperation with the Sharjah Children organisation – shjch.ae – as part of its #SeeSharjah campaign. The workshops, lasting 20 minutes each, are to be held at the new Khorfakkan Amphitheatre on the East Coast from February 24 to 26, from 3:30pm to 7pm.
