MoHAP discusses healthcare future with families, people of determination, and state employees

The Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, organized a virtual session with a number of families, people of determination, the ministry employees and customers, and federal and local government institutions staff.
Held in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s Public Health Policy and Licenses and Chairman of the 50-year preparation plan, and MoHAP senior officials, the session comes in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to engage community members in the design project for the UAE’s next fifty years, through the participation in developing the themes and components of the UAE Centennial 2071.
The meeting dealt with several health topics of interest to various society segments from the individuals, the families, and the people of determination, including promoting healthy lifestyles, developing a forward-looking vision for preventive and reinforced services, curbing the prevalence of chronic diseases, combating obesity among children and adolescents, leveraging the AI and telemedicine services within the future healthcare standards, and enhancing innovation in digital and smart services.
One team for shaping the future
“The session was very productive and was abundant in ideas and proposals that can help with the development of the health sector comprehensive plan, by identifying the challenges these categories face,” said Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, “We have also discussed the health needs of the society and the development of our health services, in order to launch specific initiatives that cope with the changes in the next fifty years.”
Al Amiri underlined that the meeting has fulfilled its objectives and that MoHAP’s team of the 50-year preparation plan will collect the ideas and initiatives discussed to document and classify them according to the topics and categories. He added; “The team will further study these ideas and analyze the outcomes in order to come up with innovative and effective initiatives and programs that serve the objectives of community involvement in the design of the next fifty years.
Remarkable interaction
The meeting witnessed a positive interaction from the participants who presented diverse and meaningful proposals and thoughts that can help in the development of health services. Ahmed Al-Ghafli from the Ministry of Community Development (from the people of determination) presented a proposal on creating a smart app that saves time and effort by locating the nearby pharmacies which have the required medicines via barcode reader for each product. He also suggested the development of braille barcodes for people with visual disabilities to help them read the medical prescription to make things easier for them.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Aal from the private medical sector suggested developing a genetic study for individuals, examining genetic diseases from childhood, and increasing the number of centers specialized in this field. Meanwhile, Abdul Ghafour Al Raisi from Al Thiqah Club for Handicapped submitted a proposal on conducting research and studies to replace damaged cells due to accidents that cause visual or motor disabilities. Aida Al-Shehhi from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation suggested allowing private hospitals to use radiotherapy for patient treatment, with the need for government control over the quality of services in accordance with the approved standards.
Dr. Amin Al Amiri, in closing the session, commended the constructive ideas and initiatives discussed, stressing that such brainstorming sessions would help support MoHAP’s trends in shaping the features of the upcoming stage and leveling up with its health services, as well as being a value-added to the communal design of the next fifty years.
