The Chinese Business Council in the UAE, in association with the Emirates Red Crescent, hosted a charitable Iftar for more than 1,000 workers at the Emirates Red Crescent tent in Dubai International City area.
Her Excellency Tan Li, Acting Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai; Zhou Guangyao, Secretary General of the Chinese Business Council in the UAE; Mohammad Abdullah Al Haj Al Zarooni, Director of the Emirates Red Crescent – Dubai centre graced the occasion with their presence at the tent.
The event sponsored by Chinese Business Council along with more than 100 volunteers from major Chinese companies based in the region also received attendance from VIP’s, dignitaries and key officials from the Chinese business community in the region.
“There are more than half a million labourers in the UAE and being able to reach out to at least a portion of them in the Holy Month of Ramadan to embrace the spirit of giving is our way of sharing our blessings with the community,” said Her Excellency Tan Li, Acting Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai.
Chinese Business Council, a non-profit social organization composed of Chinese-funded enterprises and institutions and Chinese companies based in the UAE, aims to enhance the position of Chinese companies based in the region, attract more participants from major companies to invest in the UAE market and to increase their overall market share in various sectors.
“We are honored to associate with Emirates Red Crescent and support their Ramadan initiative. Since the UAE has declared 2019 as the Year of Tolerance, we decided to associate with like-minded organisations ready to contribute considerable resources to benefit the less fortunate and embrace the country’s pioneering initiatives to emerge as a global capital of tolerance,” said Zhou Guangyao, Secretary General of the Chinese Business Council in the UAE
“It is heart-warming to witness the gratefulness expressed by our brothers towards our initiative. This is the second year we have conducted this charitable Iftar as a token of appreciation by developing Chinese companies based in the region and we aim to continue doing so annually,” added Zhou Guangyao, Secretary General of the Chinese Business Council in the UAE.
“Ramadan is a time to express compassion and share your blessings with those in need. We are extremely thankful to the Chinese Business Council and various members of the Chinese business community in the UAE to come forward and join hands in supporting our Ramadan initiative. We are constantly inspired by our visionary leaders to do more and give more to the local community, as they are the ones who have put in all their hard work to position the country where it is today in the international arena. It gives us great pleasure to sit with these workers on the same floor and share an Iftar with them regardless of their ethnicity, cultural background or religious beliefs, and that is the essence of tolerance and co-existence between all nations; its love and peace,” said Mohammad Abdullah Al Haj Al Zarooni, Director of the Emirates Red Crescent – Dubai centre.
