Dubai Otology Successfully Concluded, Virtually

Under the patronage of His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention in the United Arab Emirates, the 8th edition of the Dubai Otology, Neurology and Skull Base Surgery conference – Dubai Otology was successfully concluded virtually last week. The highly specialized Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery virtual conference, exclusively focused on the most critical ear, head and neck diseases and disorders, and allowed attendees to explore the latest medical research, treatment advances and technologies in the field of Otology. 

The 8th edition of Dubai Otology was held virtually under the light of the current pandemic, which gave participants, speakers and specialists from all over the world a chance to take part in this unique conference, and benefit from the rich scientific program that was put together by the scientific committee to highlight the latest in the field.

This year, Dubai Otology featured a rich comprehensive agenda featuring 36 scientific sessions on the key trending topics related to Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery, presented by 25 of the world’s most prominent experts and lecturers offering in-depth knowledge and sharing their clinical experiences on various case studies in this highly evolving field. Over the 3-day conference, Dubai Otology attracted over 700 attendees and participants from over 28 countries from the region and other parts of the world.

For the benefit of experts and industry professionals, Dubai Otology offered all conference attendees a chance to earn CME credit points, as the conference provided a total of 19.5 from the American Association of Continuing Medical Education and 17.5 from the Ministry of Health and Prevention in the UAE.

Furthermore, attendees and participants had the chance to learn about the latest technologies in the field of Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery from 10 of the world’s leading companies, who offered knowledge on the latest technologies in this field.

About the scientific program, Dr. Ahmed Al Amadi, Conference Chairman, commented saying: “this year, more than ever, we need a dedicated platform for professors, doctors, nurses, specialists, and students to come together and discuss the latest in the field. We are thrilled with the way this virtual event, which is the first virtual conference specialized In Otology, Neurology and Skull Base Surgery in the UAE and the region, was perceived by the industry experts, and we were specifically happy about the participation of experts from all over the world.”

He added: “The UAE’s wise leadership has always emphasized the importance of the medical sector and sought ways to support and empower it, and through specialized events like Dubai Otology, we aim to do our part of this noble mission.”

From his side, Prof. John Rutka, Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Toronto in Canada said: “I’m thrilled to have had the chance to share my knowledge in this specialized event that is aimed towards the benefit of otolaryngologists, neurologists, audiologists, physiotherapists, trainees, nurses and students. The scientific agenda was rich and comprehensive, and has highlighted crucial topics such as Audio Vestibular, Cochlear Implant, Facial Nerve, Stapes Surgery, Cholesteatoma Surgery, Eustachian Tube Surgery and much more. It was great to see that despite the current situation of the world, this highly anticipated event continued to be a platform that allows specialists to learn, teach and connect.”
