In order to promote volunteering as a humanitarian and cultural value, and to instil a sense of responsibility among the members of the Emirati community and to make volunteering a lifestyle, the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) organized, in cooperation with Expo 2020 Dubai workshops on volunteering opportunities in this global event and provided an opportunity for registration through the Expo 2020 Volunteer portable registration stand.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA, said: “The GCAA invests in UAE nationals and youth and urges them to join any opportunity for development, or providing support towards the UAE’s growth at the Arab and international levels. The GCAA proves its continued support for this world-renowned global event by providing them with the chance to have a full day at the Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre to register the employees of the GCAA that wish to participate in the Expo 2020 Dubai Volunteer Program”.
Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, said: “Expo 2020 Dubai is a national project and we rely on the support of organisations such as the General Civil Aviation Authority, to help us host an exceptional World Expo that reflects the UAE world-class status. Through the GCAA’s hosting of workshops and the Expo 2020 Volunteers portable registration stand, we will be able to register hundreds, or thousands, more volunteers, who will be the face of this exciting event. We look forward to active participation from all government agencies at the local and federal levels. “Expo 2020 will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a unique platform to inspire and empower millions of people globally. UAE residents have a key role to play in welcoming the world to celebrate innovation and human creativity, based on our theme, ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’.”
The workshops, provided by Expo 2020 Dubai, aim to ensure Expo Volunteers understand and demonstrate Emirati traditions, customs and habits when they welcome millions of visitors during the six months, from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021, and more than 100 employees attended the workshops from the General Civil Aviation Authority
