In line with the precautionary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense (MoD), and under patronage of His Excellency Matar Salim Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense (MoD), Rabdan Academy specialized in safety, security, defense, emergency preparedness and crisis management, organized a virtual graduation ceremony for participants in the Defense Technology Security (DTS) and International Ammunition Technical Guidelines Courses (IATG) training courses.
Both courses come within the framework of the joint strategic cooperation between the Academy and MoD, with the aim of providing participants with basic knowledge that supports the efforts of the authorities concerned with developing national standards and ammunition management policies and procedures, in addition to enhancing the UAE’s concept of defense technology security.
The virtual graduation ceremony was attended by Major General Staff Pilot Ishaq Saleh Al Balushi, Assistant Undersecretary of Industries and Development of Defense Capabilities at the Ministry of Defense; HE Dr. Faisal Al Ayyan, Vice President of Rabdan Academy, along with lecturers and participants in the training courses.
A Strategic Partnership
On this occasion, His Excellency Matar Salim Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said: “We take pride in the participants’ success in completing these two distinct and essential courses. They now have a great responsibility towards the country to face the challenges and achieve successes in light of the insightful vision of our wise leadership, especially that they acquired the expertise and technical skills in the fields of DTS and IATG through Rabdan Academy, one of the best specialized academies on the regional and global levels.”

On his part, Dr. Faisal Al Ayyan, Vice President of Rabdan Academy, said: “Today, we are proud of the result of weeks of hard work and cooperation between the trainees, members of the teaching and administrative staff, and local and international expertise. The practical knowledge and skills acquired by the trainees during their short educational journey will take them towards realizing the aspirations of our wise leadership, and it will enable them to perform their duties in an optimal way and to advance their careers.”

We perceive the relationship between the Academy and the Ministry as an ongoing relation characterized by sustainability and development. This cooperation is aimed at meeting the leadership’s aspirations and realizing the Academy’s enduring mission of developing and qualifying a national multidisciplinary workforce capable of protecting the international community, its members, and components.”
During their speech, the graduates expressed their happiness for completing an important part of their scientific and practical lives through the Rabdan Academy. Moreover, they extended their thanks and appreciation to the wise leadership for its support, stressing their intention to transfer their acquired expertise and skills to their colleagues becoming a leading example of the protection and safety of the country’s gains.
Information & Objectives
Commenting on the programs, Rabdan Academy clarified that the IATG course includes several topics, such as: Introduction and principles of ammunition management, risk management, facility licensing, facility protection, ammunition security, security principles for systems, storage and equipment infrastructure, facility inspection, use and preservation of ammunition in multinational operations, ammunition incidents and reporting and investigation methodology.
As for the DTS course, the Academy emphasized that the training program, which targets government and commercial bodies specialized in defense technology security, was designed to support efforts to secure the control system in the UAE.
Moreover, Rabdan Academy explained that the program enhanced participants’ understanding of defense technology control systems and their licenses and permits, as well as their understanding of defense technology applications and associated security and defense measures.
Global Standards
The training course was prepared in cooperation with the Academy’s strategic partners of government and commercial entities, namely: Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Interior, Federal Customs Authority, Tawazun Economic Council, Abu Dhabi Police, UAE Armed Forces General Command, Dubai Police, Ministry of Energy and Industry, Emirates Authority For Standardization & Metrology, National Ambulance, General Command of Abu Dhabi Civil Defence, and Manafth. The Academy works on designing various short professional courses in accordance with the highest international standards in terms of content quality, development, training, and evaluation. Designed by prominent, locally and internationally accredited experts, the programs include basic, intermediate and advanced levels and are implemented by a select group of specialized highly qualified lecturers capable of applying their expertise based on the Academy’s knowledge base.
