Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) organizes the activities of the World Investor Week 2022

In cooperation with the two financial markets and Dubai Financial Services Authority

Holding seminars and workshops on the topics of sustainable financing, investor flexibility, the Authority’s role in preserving investor rights, and its role in protecting his investments

Dr. Maryam Al-Suwaidi, CEO of the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), announced that “SCA – in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Exchange (ADX), Dubai Financial Market (DFM) and Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) – will participate in the activities of the World Investor Week 2022, which will be held over this week, as part of the annual initiative of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

“The activities on the agenda of this year’s World Investor Week shed light on the topics of sustainable financing, investor flexibility, the authority’s role in protecting the investor, as well as the responsibility of the investors themselves to protect their investments and preserve their rights by developing and strengthening their investment culture.”, Dr. Al-Suwaidi added.  

The activities of the World Investor Week include several activities that start at ten o’clock morning on (Monday) by ringing the bell in the trading halls of the ADX and the DFM.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) the Authority will organize a forum titled: (Principles of Investment… and Effective Financial Planning), for students of Fujairah University of Science and Technology. The event focuses on informing the public of the Authority’s work mechanism, its supervisory and legislative role, and the most important economic concepts that the investor must know to start a successful investment process, in addition to learning how to properly plan financially.

On the same day, DFSA is also participating in holding a package of events for English speakers, including media interviews and awareness lectures for investors.

On Wednesday, SCA will hold a workshop titled “The Development of Investment Considerations in Light of Global (economic, social, environmental and health) Events, which will discuss the issue of investor flexibility, in the presence of students and faculty members of the Skyline University College in Sharjah.

Furthermore, on Thursday, the Authority will organize, in cooperation with the ADX, a webinar (an electronic forum) that deals with topics of sustainable financing, the Authority’s role in protecting investors, as well as the investor’s role in protecting his investments by enhancing his investment awareness and culture. Speakers from the authority, ADX, and a number of external parties will participate in it.

On Friday, the Authority will publish an audiovisual summary of the events organized, on its websites on social media platforms. In addition, over the week, the Authority and the financial markets in the State will publish educational information materials related to the topics raised by the World Investor Week.

It is noteworthy that “World Investor Week” is an international initiative organized and launched by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). The campaign activities extend for a week at the same time and in all participating countries. This international initiative aims at developing the culture of investors and preserve their rights at the local and global levels by supporting and enhancing the efforts of regulatory authorities over the securities sector.

It should be noted that SCA is a full member of IOSCO since 2003. (IOSCO) is the global reference in relation to setting international standards in the field of securities markets. The organization includes in its membership the securities regulatory authorities, in addition to the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, several financial markets and various financial and monetary institutions. It has more than 200 members, including 129 securities regulatory bodies and authorities. The regulatory authorities that are members of the organization supervise and control more than 95% of the financial markets around the world.
