The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children organized a special Event at Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, the first and only pediatric hospital in the UAE, as a part of the Third National Anti-Bullying Prevention Week in schools, which is held under the Patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), the “Mother of the UAE, in conjunction with International Children’s Day.
The event targeted nearly 60 students from public schools in Dubai and included recreational educational activities for children, learning positive concepts such as tolerance, cooperation, respect, friendship and more. Commemorative group photographs of children were also taken.
H.E. Afra Al Basti, Director General of Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, thanked Al Jalila Hospital for its efforts in supporting community issues, especially the issue of confronting bullying and prevention, noting the importance of cooperation between different entities, both in the government and private sector, to serve the Community.
She added that the event focused on promoting four key values in children to counter bullying: tolerance, respect, responsibility and compassion, as many studies indicate that most cases of bullying occur as a result of the absence of one or more of those values in children.
Dr. Abdullah Al Khayat, Executive Director of Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, said: “Today, on the occasion of International Children’s Day, and as the only children’s hospital in the UAE, we renew our commitment today to support all children, whether by providing them with the best levels of healthcare care, Or through community responsibility initiatives through which we are keen to reach out to as many children and families as possible, and our hosting today comes to the event awareness of the problem of bullying among children in collaboration with The Dubai Foundation for The Care of Women and Children in this context.”
