Sallam Sallam

“Beit Al Khair” Society has revealed its new Ramadan campaign, ‘And He (Allah) nurtures charity’, which starts on February 17, 2021, falling on the 5th of the lunar month of Rajab 1442H.

The annual drive, to continue for over three months till the end of Eid Al Fitr, is aimed to bring happiness to as many disadvantaged people nationwide, and meet their needs despite the Covid-19 global pandemic.

The timely campaign, themed ‘And He (Allah) nurtures charity’, comes amidst tough conditions that have engulfed the entire world because of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) that spared no country.

Despite the crisis, “Beit Al Khair” managed to execute an outstanding Ramadan campaign last year during which the Society spent Dh92.1 million out of Dh100.4 million it spent to reduce the impact of Covid-19 on affected people.

Abdeen Taher Al Awadhi, Director General of “Beit Al Khair” Society, said they are all set with a variety of programs to meet the beneficiaries’ needs and expectations.

“The Society Ramadan campaigns would not have been a success without the incessant support of strategic partners, led by the Al Maktoum Foundation, Dubai Islamic Bank, and philanthropists who always support us during such hard times.”

Al Awadhi said: “It is without great pleasure to launch our new Ramadan campaign ‘And He (Allah) nurtures charity’ to help as many families and indigent cases across the country, and make them happy and satisfied.”

This Ramadan is coming along with good tidings and hope as the country has vaccinated large numbers of nationals and residents, he said. “This shows that giving charity and zakat will be a big support for these sincere efforts, and help end this calamity that poses a serious threat to us all.”

“All of us have to back the government efforts by giving more for charity in support of affected and low-income people during these blessed days.”

Al Awadhi added that “Beit Al Khair” hopes to collect more donations during this campaign to assist over 55,000 registered families and cases who are eagerly anticipating relief.

“Your white hands have reflected how wonderful solidarity and compassion are in the UAE,” he said, stressing that the Society has provided all means of donation, spanning its website, smart application, SMS text messages, and other means, to ease the collection of donations, yet with full attention to precautionary measures.

Al Awadhi said all the Ramadan projects will be implemented as usual. “We will be disbursing the Ramadan Mir to the beneficiaries directly through partner malls and facilities across the country.”

“Eligible people will be able to get their Ramadan needs as per the amounts specified for each and every family and case, and based do their financial situation and number of family members.”

The Iftar meal project will be resumed, he revealed. “Whereas Iftar tents have been suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, nutritious meals will be delivered to eligible people at their accommodation, yet with full attention to health and safety protocols.”

Figures show that “Beit Al Khair” distributed more than 2.6 million Iftar and Suhour meals last Ramadan, he said.

“These are part of 3.2 million meals distributed in less than four months at 80 compounds and labour camps in the emirates of Dubai, Fujairah, Ajman. Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain.”

“These were part of the humanitarian campaign initiated by H.H Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, that saw the distribution of 15 million free meals to the people and workers, and quarantined patients.”

The Society has a competent field team trained to carry out charitable campaigns, Al Awadhi underlined. “This team managed to set a new world Guinness record by distributing 8,997 meals in 2.52 hours to poor workers,” he said. “We hope the team will fulfil their duties as perfect as expected, while adhering to the precautionary measures and relevant government instructions.”
