Sallam Sallam
The organising committee of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) is all set for the 3rd edition of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition to run on November 04-16
The announcement was made by H.E. Ibrahim Mohamed Bu Melha, Adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Head of DIHQA Organising Committee on Thursday
So far, over 70 countries and foreign communities from around the world have confirmed participation in the global competition annually held under the auspicious sponsorship of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai
“More aspirant participants are expected in the coming days in view of the sweeping success of the last two editions of the international competition which witnessed a huge participation from full Quran female memorisers worldwide”
As was the case in the last two years, all competitors need to first clear initial qualifying tests to take the stage in public, he added
“Only those who pass the initial tests will take the stage to answer five questions each at the cultural and scientific association at Al Mamzar area, Dubai, on two shifts; morning (from 10 am to 1 pm) and evening (from 6.30 am to 9 pm”
The organising committee, following a special nationwide contest earlier announced on the internet, has picked up a brilliant female memoriser to represent the UAE in the competition, Bu Melha stated
“Successful candidate needs to meet certain conditions,” he explained. “She has to be a holder of the UAE citizenship, not more than 25 years old on December 31, and have full command of the memorization and recitation of the entire holy Quran”
The UAE nominee will go through an intensive training course from now on and until the beginning of November, he underlined. “This is meant to tighten her memorization and perfect her recitation”
The committee has prepared a variety of 500 Quran questions for the competition, he pointed out. “These have been entered in the updated electronic arbitration system of the competition”
All the visas needed for confirmed participants and their assistants have been issued already, he disclosed. “The first batch of contestants is expected to arrive in the UAE on November 01”
The organising committee has checked and put the final touches and decorations of the competition stage and auditorium in collaboration with the Dubai municipality, Bu Melha said
“All other preparations, spanning contestants, scholars, and arbitrators’ accommodation, leave alone food catering, medical care, and transport have been taken care of”
The competition activities, to be broadcast live on ArabSat and NileSat by the Dubai Media Inc, are to be extensively covered by all mass media locally and abroad, he said. “This is better reflect the position of H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak whom the competition is named after”
H.E. Bu Melha paid tributes to all DIHQA units and teams for their commitment and teamwork to make a big success of the much-awaited event as was the case in previous editions
He also extended his sincere appreciation to all DIHQA employees, volunteers, and assistants for their tireless effort to do their job as perfect as possible in view of their accumulative expertise round the year in different Quran competitions
