Two more Emirati nationals, Rashid Saeed Bin Harmash Al Mansouri and Eissa Khamis Al Kindi, have qualified to the next round of the 19th Fazza Championship for Youlah, organised by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center (HHC) at the Global Village
This was announced on Friday, December 21, during Episode 3 of the competition. Four ‘Yuweel’ (Youlah performers) out of the 16 qualifiers from the UAE and other Arab countries compete every Friday night. The top two in each episode advance to the quarterfinals. Al Mansouri and Al Kindi, who performed in Episode 2 on December 14, got the most number of public votes to advance to the next round
Performers during Episode 3 were Rashid Sultan Al Rizzi (from UAE), Awaid Mohsen Al Amri (KSA), Hamdan Mohammed Hamad Mislih Al Ahbabi (UAE), and Dalmook Abdullah Hamdan (UAE). They were assigned number 9, 10, 11, 12 respectively for the public voting
Yuweels are judged on their footwork and fluidity of performance. A laser light scans the sky at a height of 17-20m and a loud buzzer goes off when a Yuweel reaches that altitude with his rifle throw
Al Rizzi had a shaky start and dropped his rifle five times but he was able to throw his rifle high and successfully hit the laser once. The panel of judges gave him tips on how to improve his performance
Next to perform was Al Amri, a Saudi national. He made a good show but failed to hit the laser line after attempting to throw is rifle three times. The jury, however, were impressed with his rotation
Al Ahbabi from the UAE made a solid performance. His confidence was evident right after he set foot on stage. He managed to hit the laser line three times without committing any mistake. The committee was impressed by his performance and awarded him 50 points
Last to perform was Hamdan. He was the first Yuweel in this year’s Youlah championship to throw the rifle to as high as 20 meters. He also hit the laser line at least four times and the jury awarded him 47 points
Entertainment during Episode 4 were provided by Mehdad Hamad, who performed a song by Saeed Bin Musleh Al Ahbabi; and Fadel Al Mazroui, who rendered two songs during the competition. Poet Saif Salem Ghanim Al Mansouri also delivered a poem on honouring the UAE’s national flag
