MOHAP embraces best international practices in medical examination for residency, university students, and new employees

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) continues to provide a number of medical examination services, including pre-university fitness screening, pre-employment fitness screening, and medical examination for residency. The ministry also provides the premarital screening and counseling service, with the possibility of issuing a replacement for a lost disease-free certificate for a pre-marital examination.

The aforementioned services, which are part of the ministry’s commitment to continuing the provision of comprehensive, innovative, and outstanding healthcare services, are being made with the implementation of strict precautionary measures to immunize society against infectious diseases. This is achieved by speeding up medical examination procedures with high accuracy to ensure the happiness of community members using innovative and leading work mechanisms.

The pre-university fitness screening is a service provided to students that are attending universities in the UAE. It enables students to request a fitness medical certificate by undergoing a medical examination that includes a general examination and blood test.

Pre-employment medical fitness is a service provided to new employees who are going to work in governmental, semi-governmental, and private entities in the UAE.

This service enables new employees to request medical fitness certificate by undergoing a medical examination to ensure that he/she is medically fit for the proposed job.

Medical examination for residency

This service is one of the priorities of the ministry to immunize society against infectious diseases, speed up medical examinations procedures with high accuracy and help obtain the residence-visa swiftly and ensure the happiness of the community members using innovative and leading work mechanisms.

The medical examination centers for residency offer several services including printing of residence visa forms and conducting a medical examination. To obtain the service, he/she needs to provide a copy of valid personal documents.

25 health centers

This service enables individuals to request the necessary medical counseling for a premarital examination to ensure that they are free of genetic blood diseases, and infectious or sexually transmitted diseases. It aims to offer advice and recommendations for a healthy community with children free of genetic blood diseases, infectious and sexually transmitted diseases.

Premarital screening and counseling services are provided in 25 healthcare centers. The period required for service completion depends on the outcome of the medical condition of the couple and varies from 3 to 10 working days, while reports are issued with a validity period of three months. MoHAP also provides the issuance of a replacement for a pre-marital screening certificate, which enables customers to apply for the replacement of a previously issued pre-nuptial certificate confirming that they are free of any disease.

HE Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary of Health Centres and Clinics Sector said these services fall within the ministry’s strategy to provide comprehensive and integrated healthcare services in innovative and sustainable ways to ensure health and safety of community members and prevent diseases in society. He pointed out the ministry, as part of its customer-centric approach, is keen to diversify the medical examination services and ensure that they are being provided as per the highest standards of excellence and accuracy in procedures, data, and results. 

Highest quality standards

Al Rand pointed out that the medical fitness centers are equipped with the latest equipment and devices necessary for medical tests such as blood and radiation testing devices.

The medical and technical staff are well-trained and were qualified to perform up-to-date procedures to achieve quick and outstanding results in accordance with global specifications and standards, he further said.

The ministry’s efforts in this respect are being doubled to facilitate customers’ journey, reduce the waiting time, provide medical examination services following the best methods, electronic systems, and smart technologies.

The Medical examination service for Residency can be availed at the Preventive Medicine Centers at Kuwait Hospital in Dubai (previously known as Al Baraha hospital), Al Ghubaiba, Kalba, Dibba Al Hasan, Khorfakkan, Al Dhaid, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and the Examination Center of Expatriate Labor in the Sharjah Industrial Area.

The Medical examination service is also available at medical centers at shopping malls including Ibn Battuta Mall, Dragon Mart 2, TECOM, Spring Oasis Area, Salah El-Deen, and Al Khobaisi.
